“His best work, full of unexpected funk, boogie, blues and garage rock influences.”
“A biting blues filigree at the end of a riff, weeping solos full of long notes, boogie-woogie riffs.”
“The band's third and Best Album, ‘The Great Pretender’ is the album’s masterpiece and
one of the best things Slash has ever done.”
“Living the Dream’ is Slash’s finest moment since Snakepit and long may it continue.”
“Their best album yet. ‘Living The Dream’ is filled with potential hits.”
“a dynamic, high-octane 12-song collection a mix of straight forward, explosive riff-rockers (‘The Call Of The Wild,’‘Mind Your Manners,’ ‘Sugar Cane,’) and more epic and layeredcompositions (‘The Great Pretender,’ ‘The One You Love Is Gone,’ ‘Lost Insidethe Girl’); further studded with all manner of slight stylistic diversions, from funky wah-drenched workouts (‘Read Between The Lines’) to swaggering,Seventies-style stomp rock (‘Serve You Right’) and hook-filled, soaring anthems (‘Boulevard of Broken Hearts’ and first single ‘Driving Rain’).”
“It’s a statement that the man himself has lost none of his artistic spirit, his creative drive and, even in cleaner 50s, hisfamed rock & roll ‘tude; its evidence that this group of musicians have evolved into a finely tuned machine; and it just might be the best full-length record that Slash has been involved with since the Use Your Illusions in ’91. …”there’s a genuine hunger, a raw energy on display on this album… [‘The Call Of The Wild’ is] proof he’s chomping at the bit, even now, to create snarling,hard-hitting rock & roll.”

The guitar is basically a vehicle to be able to express feelings of anxiety, feelings ofanger, feelings of passion, feelings of love, feelings of excitement, feelings of violence, feelings of sex...all of these kinds of emotions are, for me, very well-expressed through the guitar. - SLASH
